SHELTON DEBUTS THE 3 TONNE UNIVERSAL AT GROUNDSFEST
Shelton is looking forward to showcasing its variety of machinery at Groundsfest, with a SuperTrencher 760 and 3 Tonne Universal on stand.
NEW for 2023
The 3 tonne universal arrives at Groundsfest for its maiden step onto the show circuit. This product has been in the development stages for 2 years now, taking in customer and in-house feedback on what best achieves the placement of sand/rootzone and aggregates all in one machine. It has three operations for the movement of aggregates giving efficiency and productivity back to the customer.
Our Flagship Trencher
The SuperTrencher 760 is used on sports surfaces to install drainage and services. This machine is built to provide clean-cut trenches without mess or fuss and is more than capable of installing up to and above 1000 metres a day (depending on ground conditions). With bespoke options you can hold and lay pipe from the machine and even apply aggregate directly into a hopper for the complete installation package.
Our History
As farmers in Kent during the 1970s and 1980s David and Eileen Shelton were looking at more cost-effective methods of draining their land. They devised a spinning disc trenching machine which they quickly realised had commercial possibilities. Shelton Trenching Systems was set up as a partnership with David and Eileen Shelton and sales of the machine started in 1981. In 1983 the machine was awarded a Royal Agricultural Society of England (RASE) Silver Medal for design, build and operating performance.
In May 2013 Mick Claxton and Richard Clark formed a management buyout to purchase the business. Mick and Richard had been with Shelton for 15 and 13 years respectively at the time. The business name changed to Shelton Sportsturf Drainage Ltd and all members of staff were retained.
Mick retired in 2018 with Richard continued the business by expanding sales, hire and increasing staff members over the past 5 years. We now find ourselves modernising machines and, in some respects, the look of the business for modern times.
We are proud to have our offices and manufacturing based in rural Lincolnshire.
